Zara Baker looks at ways to bronze up this summer – both in the sun and by the bottle

Korres face/body walnut & coconut suntan oil spf10 £12 Stockists: 0870 850 3868
Vegetable based, this gorgeous new oil prevents the skin from premature ageing. Coconut oil keeps skin soft and supple, while the walnut oil helps regenrate and tone dry skin. It smells amazing, too, with the walnut adding a musky hint. The texture is light and non-greasy so it’s easily absorbed and doesn’t sit on the skin like most oils. A must-have product for facing the summer sun.

Ultrasun Ultralip SPF15 £4, available from John Lewis,?Waitrose and on 01737 245499

Ultrasun’s extensive range includes this fabulous lip protection. The lips are often a forgotten area on holiday when it comes to SPF and can end up dry and blistered. This fragrance and colour-free product means the men will love to wear it too. Blackcurrent seed oil keeps lips moisturised on hot sunny days.

Estee Lauder Bronze goddess collection from £12, available from www.esteelauder.co.uk, stockists: 0870 034 2566
Estee Lauder’s new Bronze Goddess range covers cosmetics, fragrances, sun care and self tanning products. Each product complements another and the two highlighted here are no exception. The Radiant Perfection Firming Body Crème (£22.50) is a light lotion with a pleasant smell (unlike some tanning lotions). And it tones skin at the same time! The Golden Perfection Self-Tanning Milk for Body (£20.50) is a light lotion which means dark streaks are avoided and a natural glow is achieved gradually through use.

Sienna-X Extremely Natural Self tan £19.95 from selected salons, www.sienna-x.co.uk
A two-in-one product that tones skin as it tans. Target cellulite by massaging in the product – but be sure to wear gloves or you’ll be left with tell-tell brown hands. This is quite dark on application but that does make it easy to spot missed areas as you work it in. A deep and healthy looking tan develops after eight hours. Just shower and you’re good to go.

Also try: Jean D’Estrées Soothing After Sun Emulsion (£26.50) soothes the skin and prolongs your tan while coating the skin with iridescent golden glitter.

Jean D’Estrées Invisible Sun Spray SPF25 (£32) is an easy-to-use spray designed for fair skin. Protects and mositurises the skin, and it’s invisible too!

Sun Shots SPF25, (£1.50 each/£12 for 10, www.sunshots.co.uk) are non-greasy 20ml pouches of sun lotion – perfect to pop in your bag and take out with you for summer picnics.

But, when you can’t cope with faking it yourself, leave it to a professional hand: Beauty Secrets, 65 Western Road, Hove, BN32JQ, 01273 822476

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
