Win tickets to the best beach party ever. It’s Celebcity with Jo Brooks
How many 44-year-olds do you know that can still party like they just don’t care? Not many I’m sure, but that is exactly what our very own Fatboy Slim did in London’s Hyde Park last weekend.

I watched the show in good company, having spotted various celebs backstage, including Sir Bob Geldof, Johnny Ball, Steve Jones, Miquita Oliver, Charlize Theron and Miss Universe Australia Laura Dundovic.
Norman was headlining the main stage at the O2 Wireless Saturday night gig, also playing was funk-master bassist Bootsy Collins, Audio Bullys, The Whip, Brighton’s Cagedbaby and Swedish raver Robyn. Fatboy certainly didn’t disappoint, walking on stage barefoot and in cropped trousers and now trademark loud print shirt, to the soundtrack of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Opening with a heavily remixed version of ‘Praise You’, the superstar DJ never stopped smiling throughout the show – I have never seen anyone looked more at home on stage. The set contained tracks including samples from Michael Jackson’s Thriller, House of Pain’s ‘Jump Around’ (my personal favourite), Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip’s ‘Thou Shalt Always Kill’, plus an amazing remixed version of the Rolling Stones track (‘I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ and his 1998 hit ‘The Rockafeller Skank’ from the now classic album, You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby.
If you got bored of looking at Norman’s beaming face then you could watch in awe at the amazing video screen action. A twelve foot tall video of Iggy Pop singing along to ‘He’s Frank’ – one of the new tunes by Brighton Port Authority (Norman’s new music project) was one of the highlights.
I am told we can expect much more in the forthcoming Brighton show, Big Beach Boutique 4 on 27 September. Tickets are still available and you can get the latest news on the gig by logging onto www.myspace.com/fatboyslim

I managed to grab a few words with Norman, standing on the side of the stage watching Bootsy Collins. I asked him about his forthcoming hometown gig: “The thing is, it’s a labour of love and it’s so close to my heart being my home town. Yeah, it’s more work, but it feels like its our baby. And what a beautiful baby it is.
“The show will obviously be; bigger, better, harder, faster, louder, more fun, more tunes. Just More! More! More!
“We have a new visual show which will knock your socks off. Apart from that it is the same beach party frolics, which has worked so well the last three times.
“After Hyde Park we are looking to my home town to really raise the bar on how much fun there is to be had.”
