Brighton sex attack suspect remanded in custody

A Brighton man has been remanded in custody charged with sexually assaulting a woman in the centre of Brighton last week.

Michael Phillips, 34, of Grand Parade, Brighton, was arrested by Sussex Police after the incident which is alleged to have happened in the early hours of yesterday morning (Thursday 1 September).

Phillips has been charged with assaulting a female by penetration in Church Street, Brighton.

He has also been charged with two counts of exposure, contrary to section 66 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

The flashing incidents are alleged to have happened in Brighton on Tuesday 9 August and Friday 12 August.

He was remanded by Brighton magistrates to attend a plea and case management hearing in November.
