Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus: Guilty Treasures

Posted in Brighton Fringe Reviews, Latest 7, Music Reviews, Reviews, Under Review, Under Review

The quest to find the ultimate gay song was a fun and emotional journey, peppered with hilarious snippets of ‘Manika Nice’ on her mission round Brighton’s colourful scenery. It was an eclectic mix of very camp and some quite unexpected anthems such as David Bowie’s ‘Life on Mars’ and ‘Viva La Vida’ by Coldplay. The audio quality of the church sounded wonderful with all the beautiful harmonies of these amazingly dedicated men. There were some fantastic solos and a particularly moving rendition of Snow Patrols ‘Chasing Cars’. The highlight was their barber shop style cover of Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ which had a fabulous dance routine to go with it!

I agree with you Rosie, an amazingly good show.
My personal favourite had to be the beautiful solo by the handsome asian singing chasing cars. Almost had me in tears ;-)

I went to see this performance of the chorus and was the first one I had seen. I know the MD, Marc, and I think they all did an absolutely amazing job. It was fantastic. My friends and I are all hooked and can’t wait until their next performance. The singing was sensational and I loved, loved, loved their rendition of David Bowie’s song… especially with the extra sound effects which had me in tears of laughter.
