New BIMM students, Dave’s Brighton Comedy Festival, Neon, Carbon book launch & Guy Lloyd’s chat show

BIMM’s newbies
On 5 October, a new flock of BIMMers were treated to music at the Theatre Royal Brighton, as well as interviews and information on what to expect in their upcoming year at BIMM Brighton. Guests interviewed included music industry guru Korda Marshall and pop-rock band Lawson, featuring BIMM graduate drummer Adam Pitts.

Dave’s Brighton Comedy Festival
October 5 also saw the press call for the launch of Dave’s Brighton Comedy Festival at Komedia,
returning this October to present its biggest and most starry line-up ever. The festival will continue its expansion into Hove and beyond, holding events at the Brighton Dome, The Old Market and Komedia.

Royal Opera House
Latest 7 attended the screening of a promotional film highlighting the Royal Opera House’s 2012-13 programme of cinema screenings of both Opera and Ballet. Andrew Kay returned full of enthusiasm for the cinematic experience, the scale and impact of the live transmissions and the opportunity to see and hear the great works at affordable prices. www.cinema.roh.org.uk

Book launch
Photographer Greg Allum launched his book Carbon at Latest MusicBar on 6 October. The book features a collection of short stories and poetry that deal with the relationship of the body and mind. The book also features the 17 chapter poem series ‘A Serenade to the Ghost’.

Latest TV
Juice FM DJ and Latest TV presenter Guy Lloyd filmed his very first chat show for Latest TV back in the summer. Guy Lloyd’s End Of The Pier Show was filmed in Horatio’s Bar on Brighton Pier and featured as guests actor Ralph Brown, James Wiltshire of The Freemasons and comedians Joe Foster and Sam Savage along with music from Rubylux. A Way of Life
Brighton artist Darren West launched his Neon art exhibition, A Way of Life, on Sunday 30 September at The Laughing Dog Gallery at Brighton Marina, to celebrate 30 years of Neon Glass and to show selected Neon works and limited edition paintings and prints. The exhibition will continue for six weeks.
