The Rainbow Chorus: Fairytale of Kemptown
How the standard of amateur choirs has risen over the last few years and here was the proof. The Rainbow Chorus presented us with an ambitious programme of songs, sacred and secular and more than pulled it off. From Waly Waly to Africa with a few carols along the way, they were seldom short of impressive. Byrd’s ‘Ave Verum’ is a tough call, filled with both harmonic and timing complexities, but they gave us a splendid rendition. Community choirs have policies of enabling all, which can sometimes mean a few dodgy solos, but on the whole this was not the case and everyone brought forward made a real fist of it, sometimes by instilling the performance with humour – but all to great effect. Aneesa Chaudhry has whipped this choir into shape and made them a force to be reckoned with.

Totally agree. I went with my 4 year old DS and he was mesmerised by them and loved every minute. I have never seen him sit so still and quiet and has already been asking when will go again.
It was a great atmosphere, songs were excellent and being able to join in was a lovely touch.
Can’t wait to see them again.
