“Momentous moment” as turf cut ahead of construction of Brighton’s i360

After eight years in the planning, the turf has finally been cut on the site of Brighton’s i360.

The observation tower, which at 160 metres high is the tallest building in Sussex, will cost £46.2 million to create.

But those behind it claimed that the attraction would be as popular as the London Eye.

City leaders claim the turf cutting, which took place in front of the West Pier, was a “momentous occasion”.
