Mogwai

For newer converts to Mogwai through their soundtrack to TV show ‘The Returned’ their very loud post-rock dynamics might have come as a shock. To older fans however, the musical peaks and screeching guitars were all present and correct, perhaps a little formulaic and predictable at some points in fact. The set was generously filled with favourites from their canon such as ‘George Square Thatcher Death Party’ and tracks off their latest album ‘Rave Tapes’ were a refreshing change of pace with a bigger focus on keyboards and melodies. A strong rock performance with some great guitar effects work which was powerful at points but a little meandering at others.
