An independent space showcasing immense artistic talent – have you discovered ink_d gallery yet?

Established in 2007, ink_d is an independently run commercial space showing original, challenging and exciting contemporary art.

The gallery is an intimate space tucked away in the heart of Brighton’s North Laine on North Road (just a few doors down from Wagamama and before you get to Bill’s Café). Inside you will find the cream of collectable and affordable art with an ethos that supports and nurtures local talent alongside the rising stars and established artists.

ink_d gallery shows a diverse range of painting, print, sculpture and ceramics with an emphasis on the cutting edge. In the space, which is arranged over two floors, you are very likely to see a recent graduate showing next to an artist whose work is in museum collections around the world.

The gallery curates eight exhibitions a year and is open seven days a week during shows. One month the gallery could be glowing with neon artwork, the next it will be full of sublime paintings, then radical ceramics followed by European Street Art. There is always something new to see, to inspire, or develop your art collection.

For collectors and those who are new to buying art, ink_d also offers the fantastic Own Art Scheme for interest free art loans from £100 to £2,500 in 10 monthly instalments. They also offer a bespoke framing service for your artwork.
Their lists of artists are too numerous to mention, but previous shows include solo shows with Sir Peter Blake, Stanley Donwood, Jon Burgerman, Kennard Phillipps, James Cauty, Eelus, Graham Carter, Al Murphy, Modern Toss, Dan Baldwin, Alex Binnie and Eine. Group shows include Renegade Potters and Extreme Craft, Made in Brighton, Stencil History X, The Power of Portrait and Pushing Paint, to name but a few.

Currently showing at ink_d in the main gallery is ‘Mad in Mexico’ – a solo show of mosaic and ceramic work from Carrie Reichardt. Carrie has recently returned from her self-titled “Radical Mexican Mosaic Mission”, courtesy of the Winston Churchill Fellowship, where she won an award to further the art and craft of community mosaics.

Inspired by the vibrant activism, ideology and warmth of the people she met, Carrie has produced a brand new body of work for her show at ink_d gallery that portrays the struggles and people of the real Mexico.

Mexico houses some of the most immense mosaics in the world and has one of the strongest mosaic traditions. Their iconography is steeped in Mayan and Aztec influences, which combines everything Carrie loves; skulls, tripped-out patterns, religious symbolism, mysticism and brilliant striking graphics. ‘Mad in Mexico’ is open every day right up until Christmas Eve.
