Latest Sport: Jolly good sports

Jules Breach has the best news and gossip from Latest Sport 2014

Hey sports fans! Corr, it’s chilly out there now isn’t it? Christmas is well and truly on its way, so to celebrate we are going to unwrap some of our favourite Latest Sport TV moments of 2014! We’ve had some cracking guests on and we’ve got so much to look forward to for 2015.

One of my personal highlights of the year had to be having 10 year old Dan Morley on our show At The Amex. Dan might be a little whipper snapper, but it was fascinating to hear him come out with stats from times before he was even born! He’s a real talent and he also provided us with one of the biggest laughs of the year so far. I don’t think Dan realised what he did himself, but he pretty much asked me out on a date, live on the telly, much to all the rest of the team’s delight.

Another one of my most hilarious moments of the year was when a punter told me I looked better ‘off camera’, which is just charming when you spend the majority of your time being filmed. Good thing I’ve got a sense of humour!

We’ve had some fantastic guests on the sofa on Match Day Breakfast and some inspirational ones as well. If I sat here and listed them all it would take all day, but to name some of our favourites; Dick Knight, Adam Virgo, Kerry Mayo, Andy Dalby-Welsh, Allan Mullery, Lloyd Ellett, Sergio Torres, Suzi Ruffell and JP Omari.

They all provided us with their expert opinions on their areas of sport and we had some laughs with them too. Our ‘dodgy quiz’ got dodgier as the year went on, and I can guarantee even dodgier stuff to come in the new year!

We also got ourselves to loads of sporting events around the county including the Sussex Sports Awards, Crusader Events Fight Night, countless BHAFC football games, we visited schools in the area to see how their sports departments were getting on, we played blind cricket, took part in Tough Mudder, and we visited loads of non league football matches, including quite a few at The Dripping Pan in Lewes. They seem to have got into their stride towards the end of the year keeping three clean sheets in their last three games and bagging some well deserved points, too. We’ll be back visiting the Pan in the new year for more of that good stuff.

One of our final events of the year is going to be at Sussex and England cricketer Mike Yardy’s Christmas benefit lunch at the Metropole hotel in Brighton. Mike has been celebrating his benefit year by putting on some fantastic events throughout the year, all of which I’ve been lucky enough to attend. I work as part of Charlotte Henry’s ‘Blink Promotions’ which is a fab company that hires presenters, hostesses, models and promotional staff for events around the county and London, and Blink have been a big part of all of the Sussex County Cricket Club’s events for the last decade! They also now provide staff for Brighton and Hove Albion events and match days. Feel free to contact Charlotte if you want to book some of her amazing team for your event! charlotte@blinkpromotions.co.uk

Yardy’s benefit events have been such a success and I’m sure anyone that knows him and has attended one of his events knows what a genuine guy he is, and how important the charities that he supports are to him – Rockinghorse and Mind are two charities very close to his heart. The Latest Sport team will be at Mike’s final event of the year on Friday 19 December and it will be a great event to sum up our success this year, as well as to support a local man in his final event of the year.

We hope you’ve enjoyed watching and we look forward to bringing loads more of the best sporting action and events to your telly in 2015, on Latest Sport TV. Have a very Merry Christmas from all of us on the team, and I hope you’ll be busting those new moves you’ve learnt from JP Omari on the dance floors this New Years Eve!
See you in 2015, sports fans!
