Laibach

Having mellowed with age, the Slovenian militaristic band have swapped their heavier industrial percussive beats for slightly dancier electronica, and added Mina Špileron on lead vocals and keyboard. The resultant sound is that of a harder-hitting Yello (no bad thing) and with two encores, including their strident cover version of Queen’s One Vision (infinitely better than the original), the appreciative crowd were very happy indeed. Ultimately, trying to encapsulate a Laibach gig in a brief review is impossible, it has to be experienced – however, it was undeniably an incomparable, challenging and exhilarating, witty, theatrical, political, foot-stomping ‘kraut rock’ art event.
