Butterfly Catcher

Wow. It’s easy to forget or dismiss the trauma of schooldays. Butterfly Catcher, from Luton’s Next Generation Youth Theatre, reminded us of the pressures and passions, the discoveries and expectations with a brutal yet articulate and utterly true need that was heart-breaking and shaming to those who no longer remember. Ostensibly a love story, this musical theatre piece was so much more – a snapshot of the hothouse of hormones and expectations piled up upon each other, barely leaving space to breathe in the crush. Passionately performed by a totally invested and talented cast. Do see it for a snapshot of this generation’s ‘Brick In The Wall’.
