The Bookbinder

‘They say you can get lost in a good book. But it’s worse to get lost in a bad one…’ New Zealand company Trick of the Light Theatre weave an enticing and charming Neil Gaiman-esque fairy tale about an apprentice bookbinder who discovers that redemption lies within the pages of a magical tome he has shoddily repaired. Sucked into a strange and mysterious world the boy’s quest is portrayed through pop-up books, puppetry, and some excellently inventive use of a table lamp. This one-man show is a beguiling, hypnotic treat of storytelling.
