BREMF – A Noble Legacy – Fieri Consort

Fieri Consort are something very special, impressing us in 2014 with ‘Cries of London’ and as soloists in ‘Ruggiero’ last year. Now they’ve delivered a splendid taster of the Brighton Early Music Festival with madrigals and songs inspired by the great Cipriano de Rore (1516-1565). Lovers’ complaints really shouldn’t generate such joy! Plangent, sublime or jolly, the complex variety of this programme was perfectly served by these eight clear young voices revelling in the supportive acoustic. Every phrase was exquisitely shaped and the balance was exact. Their animated enjoyment in this repertoire is infectious and delightful. Come back again soon.

CODA: The full BREMF programme of 20+ more events begins on Saturday 1 October at various city venues. Don’t miss out!
