BREMF – Neptune’s Song – The Constellation Club, Katie Thomas (conductor)

Water Music in an aquarium – whatever next? Sold out, this delightful concert was more like a private party with a super band. The music was fantastic, but so you’d expect with Bach and Telemann. Crisp, stylish Baroque strings and woodwind cut easily through the ambient sound. The venue, once you blocked out the rippling water features, is as gothic-vaulted as any church but with live adornments. I sat for the first set but then took Katie’s advice and sauntered around, wine in hand, enjoying the glorious eccentricity of the occasion. Welcome to an exciting new formation of early music stars!
