BREMF – Dr Dee’s Daughter and the Philosopher’s Stone

Palisander, a recorder quartet, really delighted us last year in BREMF Live! and now with Rust & Stardust, a multi-tasking drama duo, they presented a complete and brilliant package. The story, acted with puppets and a few props, was beautifully told. The young audience was enthralled by the mystery, the special lighting and the occasional long words (after all, Dr Dee was a wizard). Palisander, arrayed as courtly Elizabethan angels and sometimes dancing, played most of the music from memory. It accompanied the story seamlessly and with astonishing accuracy for such temperamental instruments. No wonder old and young were entranced.
