A word from Bill Smith, MD of Latest Homes

Globalisation has become a fact of life, and many local businesses and residents are becoming aware of the impact on the local economy and life of a city.

We at the Latest feel strongly that we all need to support Brighton and local businesses. Global companies may provide a fair service but local companies often have the edge, on knowing their customers and providing a more personal and comprehensive approach. By supporting Brighton businesses, 100% of your pound goes directly back into the local economy unlike global companies which are estimated to take over 87 pence out of our city.

Latest Homes has always championed the local property market, and this year we are able to do that by reaching even more people in the local area. With over 60,000 social media followers, with 108,000 regular Latest TV viewers and with thousands more people on our online sites (latesthomes.co.ukthelatest.co.uk) and reading Latest Homes in print and online every week, we love the fact that the people of Brighton, Hove and Worthing read, tune in, and log on to all the great things we are privileged to share about the city.

Brighton & Hove has a wealth of great independent estate agents as well as homegrown businesses and charities such as The Martlets, Donatello, the Brighton Centre to name a few who have graced this magazine since we started 17 years ago.

Local businesses and organisations supporting each other is what makes an area thrive

I am biased but I prefer the most established property magazine in our locality, Latest Homes magazine and of course, latesthomes.co.uk which has the most local properties, more than the national and international portals. We passionately believe in all that’s great about this city. The successful tourist industry bringing over 10 million annual visitors. The innovative universities and life sciences sector carrying out world class research.

I look at my own consumer habits, and realise I much prefer local taxis (City Cabs; Streamline; Radio Cabs, and the many independent drivers) to Uber coming into the city from outside. I prefer watching Brighton & Hove Albion, and the many great non-league teams such as Whitehawk FC and Burgess Hill FC to Manchester United or Inter Milan.

So if you have a business you want to shout about, a home you would like to sell or buy, or you want to know what’s happening in your city, become a friend of the Latest, and talk to us about how we can support your business and keep Brighton local. Follow us @latestbrighton and get in touch with me at bill@thelatest.co.uk or my colleague Lesley Lawrence at lesley@thelatest.co.uk.

Make the right move everyone, support local businesses. Sell or buy your homes via Latest Homes, the Brighton property magazine.

And don’t forget to check the best TV listings in the city on the flipside in Latest 7, now featuring our great new columnist, local lad, Louis Michael from Gogglebox.
