Life in Kemp Town is sweet. I love my new home even though, for now, I am sleeping on an inflatable mattress and have few of my real chattels around me. That was until I decided that a new sofa was required.

Now sofas are difficult beasts, not only to find but to tame. By that I mean I have very exacting criteria for what will and will not do and once those criteria have been met, the narrow corridors of my new home needed to be negotiated.

Hello from sunny Kemp Town Village, Brighton’s official Bohemia. Yes, I have left the climes of sexy Saltdean to return to a single life in one of the city’s favourite haunts.

Saltdean was great, don’t get me wrong, it has lots going for it – providing you are not a single man. As a single man of a ‘certain’ age the suburbs can be pretty lonely, believe me, I know, I have just served a two-year sentence with no parole. No parole because that comes with good behaviour and I am never that well behaved.
