Ihad never before spent 30 hours on a train until my recent journey between New York and Miami. I had no idea what to expect from my journey, but was pleased to learn that my ‘couchette’ had a ‘rest room’ (toilet) right next to my bunk (it did in fact double – in an unhygienic manner – as a bedside table), air conditioning, a shower just down the hall, free coffee and orange juice and three meals included.
