Not a musician to rest on his laurels, Gary Numan saved his two greatest hits for the encore, as a jauntily disappointing ‘Cars’ led into a more adventurous and hard-hitting ‘Are Friends Electric’. His set, all lights and smoke and lazers, suited his old-school rock front man stylings, and while the arrangements were sequencer-heavy and synced to a video screen, his band were electric enough to make it work. Gary Numan gives good show, combining avant garde electro with grinding industrial metal, and if his vocals received a little, well, technological assistance from time to time, that’s ok, right?
