The future of early music is secure in the hands of performers like the IBP, led by charismatic Kati Debretzeni. Abetted by the very secure and well-balanced BREMF singers, they made the finale of the Brighton Early Music Festival a climactic celebration, rejoicing all the way. Their enthusiasm and delight in this music is infectious, as the audience’s extended applause proved. One of the best features of BREMF is its support of such super-talented young musicians. Let’s hope that enough alternative funding will come through to make up the shortfall now there’s no Arts Council grant. Here’s to BREMF 2013!
