Andy Garth: Another auction special from Andy Garth

ag ag

This week’s auction offering is a throwback to what we used to do before we relied on the ‘interweb’ to check out the next destination and accommodation that we were thinking about visiting.

The annual tourist guide was produced by the Council’s own tourist information office and sent to people showing an interest in visiting. On a slight aside the Brighton Tourist information department once occupied two “in-the-news-buildings”, one being the controversial Marlborough House in the Old Steine and the other is the building that has been removed from the bottom of West St and rebuilt closer to the (Brighton) Palace Pier.

So back to the brochure. It’s beautifully designed with great 1930s Deco style drawings and some great photos and full of all the information you need to get the most out of your seaside holiday in Hove, price £10ish.

P.S. Brighton hardly gets a mention!

The second photo is a selection of signed photos of Ice Dancers who appeared in the annual Ice Show/Pantomime at the S S Brighton Ice Rink in West Street Brighton.

These are lovely items which take you back to another world, price £10-12.

The sale takes place on Tuesday 25 July at The Aldrington Church Hall Glebe Villas Hove, starting at 8pm with viewing from 6.30.
