Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra

Barry Wordsworth conducted the opening concert of the Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra in the first concert of its 90th season with a spectacular program, opening with Glinka’s overture to Ruslan and Lyudmila and featuring the Russian-American pianist Natasha Paremski playing Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2. The audience cheered and applauded until she returned to play the last movement from Prokofiev’s Sonata No.7, Op.83 for her encore. The program‘s grand finale was Shostakovich’s classically inspired Symphony No. 5. This orchestra performs to the highest standards and we have every right to be proud that it represents our city. Do not miss the nine remaining offerings of this season.
