Comedy: 3, 2, 1 with Flange Krammer & Rusty Dustin

If you’re after something completely different for 2014’s live shows, check out this character comedy delight

At the end of last year a brand new night, showcasing the talents of comic creations, arrived at The Old Market – the brainchild of, and starring, Neil Dagley aka Flange Krammer. Loosely draped over the framework of an homage to the 1980s gameshow of indecipherable riddle clues, what this evening actually presents is a marvellous opportunity for character comics, and other such funny people who don’t necessarily fit the mould of a man and a microphone performing stand-up, to properly show off the variety of ways that can be employed to make an audience laugh.

Already being tapped into by BBC3’s Live At The Electric, this talent pool is a veritable smorgasbord of sketches, personas, musicians and more that have emerged in recent years – so to have a home in Brighton for the best to gravitate to is a humdinger of a good idea.

Proving that they’re starting 2014 with the cream of the crop, the headliner in January is the incredible Colin Hoult, most recently heard with his own BBC radio series of twisted humour, and recognised from his turn as office bod turned vampire in the last series of Being Human. Joining him is Mark Davison aka Mr Susie, a misguided alien, who has also been on TV in recent times. Add to that resident glamorous assistant Gemma Whelan (Funny Women Variety Award winner and Game Of Thrones) and you get a fair idea of the top calibre of acts you can expect. At such an affordable price too, there’s simply no excuse to indulge in the January blues.
