Kerry Godliman

Best known to audiences for her role as care-home worker Hannah in Ricky Gervais’ sitcom ‘Derek’, Kerry Godliman’s exuberant stand-up routine was a far cry from the crumple-faced sobriety some might have been expecting. Irreverently tackling the humdrum nature of middle-aged parenting alongside themes from fashion through to dating, this was fundamentally a by-numbers batch of observational humour playing on ‘traditional’ femininity. What elevated this hour, though, was Godliman’s unstoppable likeability and stage presence. With a honed common touch and idiosyncratic hyperactive tics punctuated by oddly poetic filthy wordplay, this ultra-polished performance had a packed Komedia crowd in hysterics.
