Kraftwerk: Rewerk

Rarely has the marriage between electronic music and its orchestral counterpoint been so wonderfully rendered. After a mesmerising first half ‘aural sorbet’ featuring beautifully performed pieces by Schnittke and Messiaen, and a captivating audio-visual airing of an early experiment in electronic experimentation from Ligeti, Charles Hazelwood’s beautifully diverse and inclusive orchestra delivered a truly breathtaking reimagining of Kraftwerk’s Trans Europe Express.

Unlike the current trend for simple renditions of electronic classics, this stunning work breathed fresh energy into the seminal album, creating an exhilarating new piece that stands on it’s own merits while remaining suitably faithful to the original.
