Spandau Ballet

With their legal in-fighting resolved, the New Romantic soul boys were back and proved this whole-heartedly with a polished performance of ’80s classics alongside a sprinkling of well-received new numbers. All five members looked and sounded as fresh as the songs, with Tony Hadley’s powerful vocals and Steve Norman’s multi-instrumental flourishes key to an impressive showcase of hits. Chant No.1 and a medley in homage to their early Blitz club days showed they could still groove and an acoustic Empty Spaces was a lovely touch. They were clearly enjoying themselves and finished strongly with a flurry of crowd-pleasers. A class act.
