Tim Key – Masterslut

Tim Key’s Masterslut show centred around his love of baths, with an onstage full tub playing a pivotal role. As expected his poems shone as little throw-away pearls of angst and absurdities, yet sadly we were only treated to 9 of them – although there was a very funny explanation of his writing process. As a huge fan of his melancholic poetry and deadpan protracted pauses, it was a shame to see him eschewing all that for shouting far too much, swearing unnecessarily and jokingly insulting the audience. He’s far more intelligent and witty than having to resort to such lowest common denominators.
