Action for Happiness

Action for Happiness is a movement for positive social change. We’re bringing together people from all walks of life who want to play a part in creating a happier society for everyone. For fifty years we’ve aimed relentlessly at higher incomes. But despite being much wealthier, we’re no happier than we were five decades ago. At the same time we’ve seen an increase in wider social issues, including a worrying rise in anxiety and depression in young people. It’s time for a positive change in what we mean by progress.

The Space with the producer of Star Wars Gary Kurtz and the BFI (British Film Institute) Chief Executive Amanda Nevill

AMANDA NEVILL
Since joining the BFI in 2003, she has turned it into a major internationally influential organisation and the leading body for film in the UK. Its new strategy, ‘Film Forever’, covers the cultural, creative and economic aspects of UK film, with an emphasis on education and nurturing the next generation of filmmakers. This will be a highly insightful and interesting interview with a one of the film industry’s leading figures.

GARY KURTZ
Gary Kurtz is the somewhat legendary producer of the original 1977 Star Wars film and its sequel, The Empire Strikes Back. He was George Lucas’s closest collaborator of the films, playing a huge part in the making of these first two parts in the phenomenally successful franchise. He is also the producer of Lucas’s American Graffiti, The Dark Crystal, directed by Jim Henson, and Return to Oz. This is bound to be a highly interesting and fascinating exclusive interview with a key figure in the world of Star Wars.
