Dave Celia & Marla

+ Bio Rik van den Bosch

Dave and Marla first met playing music in Germany and they soon found a chemistry together. They have been writing music and touring the world together ever since. Currently based in Canada, they are touring around the country whilst working on songs for a new joint album. Each brings something unique to the table, combining dreamy melodies on their acoustic guitars with wonderfully intertwining voices in an intimate setting.

David Celia – (Toronto) is an accomplished guitar player and songwriter who has toured frequently across Canada & throughout Europe (including a memorable appearance at the Glastonbury Festival). He has been touted as “one of Toronto’s best guitarists” by CBC Radio and has featured frequently on the BBC in the UK. David’s 4th album, “Double Mind” is available on CD & Vinyl.

Marla – (Heidelberg) recorded her debut album in Toronto with David as producerand sideman. Her songs tell stories of lost love sung with an airy voice as she softly picks her guitar. Her moving debut album “Madawaska Valley” is available on CD & Vinyl (Melting Pot Music/Rough Trade).

Bio Rik van den Bosch – Folk music from a globetrotting Dutchman. Rik writes, sings, and plays his own songs on his acoustic guitar, drawing from a wide influence of styles: original folk and blues sounds from way back, sixties’ rock ’n’ roll grooves, and up-to-the-minute pure rock rhythms – with a bit of gypsy and Spanish influence thrown in for good measure. Rik is a one-man-band, armed with a variety of tools to create a full and interesting sound, from his slide and harmonica to his incredible vocal range. He is a storyteller, both in and between the songs in his set. Occasionally Rik gets support on stage from a double bass and drums.

Whaddya Know – We’re in Love!

Songs by Jerry Rulf

Book by Brian Mitchell

In 1993, musician Jerry Rulf premiered his original 25 minute musical comedy ‘Whaddya Know – We’re In Love’ at Brighton Dome (pictured). It was an unabashed tribute to the “Let’s Do The Show Right Here!” school of musical theatre with glorious, Swing-Era songs – and it was a hit. Now, 24 years later, he and Brian Mitchell, his erstwhile co-presenter on Radio Reverb’s ‘Up Yours’, have expanded the show, with Rulf contributing additional songs and Mitchell writing a new book based on the same archetypal setting as the original – a cruise liner that would seem eerily familiar to the Marx Brothers and Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. The Foundry Group is proud to present a rehearsed reading with live songs of this new, expanded show, with three of the original cast – Samantha Dixon, Jerry Rulf and singer-songwriter Jason Pegg (Clearlake) – and the addition of Radio 4 regular David Mounfield.
