Calling all women – now is the time to sign up for the annual RISE 8K Undercliff Run, which takes place on Sunday 18 September. In its fourth year, the 8K Undercliff Run starts at 10am and is one of the main fundraising events for Brighton-based charity RISE, which provides services for women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse.

The run is a unique, women only run along the bottom of the chalk cliffs from Saltdean to Brighton Marina and back. Women of all ages gather at the start line to soak up the atmosphere as they run to raise sponsorship for the charity.

Entry to the 8K Undercliff Run costs £15, which includes a goodie bag that every girl needs and every runner receives a medal at the finish line. Alternatively, you can enter the Team Relay with three female friends and run 2K each. Families can take part in 8K Undercliff Walk for Families, which starts at 9.30am and costs £5 per person, or £10 for a family of two adults and up to five kids. » News: Caroline Lucas visits Amex Stadium

Caroline Lucas visited Brighton and Hove Albion’s new home for a presentation of the charity work it has done with the cities’ largest employer, American Express.

She met with American Express Programme Director Wendy MacDonald and Albion in the Community’s (AITC) Joint Director Alan Sanders to see some of the projects undertaken by the charity.

Caroline Lucas MP said: “It was great to see how this amazing project has progressed since my last visit. The new stadium really is an extraordinary building and a great asset to the city.

“Albion in the Community has won many awards and accolades for its work in the community and further afield – and it’s clear that a lot of effort is going into making sure the stadium is genuinely a community facility.

“The project shows the potential of football to affect and help improve people’s lives. It can reach people more quickly and effectively than traditional methods. Visitors to the stadium can collect information about all sorts of health issues, for example, that they might not otherwise encounter in their everyday lives.”

AITC joint director Alan Sanders commented: “I am delighted that Caroline has taken such interest in the work of Albion in the Community and her contribution about broadening our provision will prove invaluable.”

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
