Julie vajazzles Amy

Ex-TOWIE star Amy Childs launched her new TV show It’s All About Amy in London last week and Julie Coates – Vajazzle expert for Vajazzle.me and owner of The Lanes Health and Beauty in Brighton – was on hand to vajazzle her up for the occasion. Julie adorned Amy with the authentic Swarovski crystals so Amy’s upper leg and bikini line was truly vajazzled.

Noble approach

Last Tuesday I was honored to be asked along to Polly Noble’s book launch: The Cancer Journey – Positive Steps To Help Yourself Heal at Whole Foods in Kensington. Polly Noble is a holistic health coach, raw food coach, inspirational speaker and is a fan of Aloka Brighton’s fabulous raw food. Opera star and Polly’s best friend Katherine Jenkins attended
the launch and also writes the foreword in the book.

We heart Alan

Hundreds of Alan Partridge fans got the treat of their lives on Wednesday 23 November when the broadcasting legend visited Waterstones, Brighton to sign copies of his popular autobiography, I Partridge. The event took place the day after Partridge collaborator Steve Coogan gave evidence at the Leveson Inquiry, but this seemed to have no bearing on Alan’s upbeat demeanour on the night.

Alan revealed: “I come to Brighton many times to enjoy the wit, wisdom and tolerance of a place which has so many colourful characters. Only the other day I saw a mixed-race race transvestite wearing flip-flops with an afro-wig on. It’s the only place where you can use a skateboard and be over 40 years old. That’s why I love it.”

» CelebCity: The Ordinary Boys – Preston interviewed

Catching up with Preston, after the beginning of The Ordinary Boys’ UK tour, we quizzed him on fame, music and that Huffington Post blog…

Are The Ordinary Boys working on new material?

“Because this tour is very much extracurricular we are recording whenever we can. Through my writing I have started producing records and I have my own studio now so I like to imagine that we can exhume the band into a
kind of emeritus state and put MP3s out for free whenever we make them! We have a new song, ‘Run This Town’ that we will be playing on our tour.”

Back to black

We’re still saddened by the untimely death of singing legend Amy Winehouse this year, but her legacy has touched Brighton in a multitude of ways. Mitch Winehouse, the singer’s beloved father, launched the Amy Winehouse Foundation following her passing and has since pledged £10,000 to Brighton’s children’s charity Chestnut Tree House. That’s not all though, after being blown away by a visit to the hospice, Mitch decided he would perform in honour of them for their fourth annual Snowball Spectacular Fundraising Ball. Mitch’s love of music was a great influence on Amy in her younger years and continued to play out within all of her work. Guests can expect some old time favourites and perhaps maybe a tribute to his remarkable daughter – it promises to be a special night all round. The Snowman Spectacular Ball takes place on Saturday 3 December at the Hilton Brighton Metropole but sadly tickets are already sold out!

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
