Latest 7 finds laser hair removal at Brighton Laser Clinic is a must-have winter treatment

Winter is the perfect time of year to remove any unwanted hair in order to get that perfect beach body ready for summer. Whether it’s your bikini line, legs, arms or face, thousands of women choose laser hair removal during the winter months to get body-confident for next year.

Laser hair removal works by destroying the key structures that cause hair to grow, leaving long-term results that can last for several years. Unlike electrolysis, multiple hair follicles can be targeted at the same time, meaning large areas such as backs or legs can easily be treated in a single treatment session. Six to eight treatment sessions are typically required at four to six week intervals. This is because your hair grows in cycles and the laser only causes long-term damage to the hair follicles that are actively in the growth phase of development. This is when the root of the hair is deep within the follicle and the heat caused by the laser can easily transfer from the hair to the surrounding cells, damaging the underlying mechanisms responsible for hair growth. During treatment you will also need to avoid sun exposure, so winter is the perfect time to get started.

» Wave: Body MOT

Wave finds ways to give your mind, body and soul a complete service this winter

It’s not just your car that needs looking after over the winter months. It may well be easy to keep on top of an oil change, tyre checks and the overall appearance of your motor with a polish, wax and a hoovering out… but what about your own body work? And how well is your body running on the inside? Vehicle analogy aside, the human body is a fantastic and complex machine that needs to be looked after. Whether it’s mentally, physically or cosmetically, here we round up the best ways to give the mind, body and soul a complete service…

Happy weight
Unfortunately, it’s far easier to pile on the pounds this time of year. Hiding under layers of clothing, eating for warmth and comfort (not to mention the excess sweet treats over Halloween) all factor in. But being overweight, aside from putting more physical pressure on the body, can make us unhappy.

“A person can feel out of control emotionally and physically if they’re overweight,” says NLP practitioner and hypnotherapist Jonathan Conway.

A balanced diet and plenty of exercise may seem like the simple solution, but it’s not always easy. “Being overweight is a form of addiction similar to dependency on smoking or alcohol,” Jonathan identifies. “Sometimes it is simply a habit and other times it is a sign of a deeper psychological issue.”

Hypnosis can be a useful aid to helping a person change the way their eating habits. “I also suggest ‘focused eating,” Jonathan continues. “Don’t eat whilst watching TV or reading, so there is more awareness of how much you eat.?Also, eat slower and put your food on a smaller plate [conscious eating].” Try giving yourself some time between when you think you are hungry and the time you eat to be sure it’s an emotional hunger and not a physical one. This needs to be combined with a safe amount of exercise – often a person who is overweight has lost the motivation for exercise.

Through hypnotherapy, you can accomplish your goal of becoming slimmer – for the longterm. Increased self confidence, motivation and a greater sense of wellbeing is the result.

Turn up the heat
Doing something for the mind, body and soul is easily achieved through Bikram Yoga. Practised in a hot room in temperatures of around 42 to 45 degrees centigrade, your body is warm and ready for action straight away. As you work through the 26 postures (asanas) and two breathing exercises, your body’s internal and external temperatures become similar. This means the body is now more fluid and open; muscles stretch more readily and joints are more mobile.

You will sweat in this class: it’s a great way to remove toxins nicotine, caffeine, excess alcohol and dangerous metabolic waste that can build in your body. Through Bikram Yoga you are bending, stretching and twisting your spine, exercising the external and internal body: skeletal, muscular, nervous, lymphatic, circulatory, respiratory, urinary, digestive and reproductive systems.

Feel the power

Power Plates at Revitalise

Power Plates are loved by celebrities and are equally adored by their trainers. That’s because the results are fast, visible, and a session beats hours sweating away in a gym. The Power Plate machines deliver a full body workout in a half hour class. The vibrating plates make muscles contract multiple times per second. You do 10 sit-ups on the Power Plate machine and it’s the result of doing three times as many.
Strength, posture and improved balance can all be achieved. It’s a full workout and enjoyable too. At Revitalise in Hove, class sizes are limited to four people, meaning a personal approach and a laid-back atmosphere. That’s not to say you won’t be worked hard. What keeps Power Plates interesting is the range of exercises and movements that can be performed. It’s far more interesting – and beneficial – then running on a treadmill. Each class ends with gentle stretches and massage. The vibrating plate even increases bone mineral density, helping to prevent osteoporosis. Kristen at Revitalise swears by the improvement in skin tone: skin texture is improved and cellulite can be reduced when worked targeted! There’s a huge buzz about Power Plates, and with good reason too. The benefits are vast. Not only that, but people recovering from injury or with limited movement can join a beginners’ workout and reap the benefits too.

Perfect measures
Ready for the upcoming party season with parties and little black dresses aplenty? No, us neither. In the fight to shift the bulge, time can be against us. Revitalise has come up with the perfect assistance for people looking to lose inches – and fast. Laser lipo has graced the media in the last few years, praised for shifting ‘mummy tummies’, unwanted love handles, bingo wings, and increasing people’s confidence in the process. Liposuction without the surgery is how it’s described…

Laser Lipo by Lapex BCS is non-invasive (no needles, no down time) and provides inch loss, skin tightening and cellulite reduction with instant results. The therapy takes between 20 and 40 minutes, targeting areas such as the stomach, love handles, bottom, thighs and arms. A program at Revitalise consists of one or two weekly treatments for four to eight weeks. Customers have lost around 10 inches from their waist in just one month.

Clients will have a full consultation with a therapist and nutritional and dietary advice is offered at no extra cost. It may sound too good to be true; chatting to the experienced team at Revitalise will help you decide if Laser Lipo is for you.

Pure indulgence
Taking the time to step back, take stock, and indulge in a little R&R will bring you even closer to increased wellbeing. A spa stay may be out of the question with the approaching holiday season, but there are plenty of ways to treat yourself here in Brighton.?At urban day spa and beauty salon The Treatment Rooms, a few hours out of your day can make a huge difference in boosting your wellbeing. Choose a relaxing facial, pedicure or manicure for an instant pick-me-up. Unwind with a massage or rejuventate the skin with a body wrap. This will complete your full body service and leave you ready to face the winter head on – however cold it gets…
