More staffies being dumped on Brighton and Hove’s streets

Kind-hearted pet lovers are being urged to give these dogs a home as young Staffies continue to be dumped on the city’s streets.

Despite years of attempts to convince people of their playful nature, animal welfare officers in Brighton and Hove are continuing to pick up the abandoned dogs.

Staffordshire Bull terriers are continually being re-homed – yet officials warn the kennels are constantly full.

Animal welfare officer Izzie Blanden said: “Our hearts sink when we find another stray staffy as we know that they are going to be so difficult to re-home.”

There are currently five staffies in council kennels in desperate need of new homes.

They are: Archie a handsome, well behaved male blue staffie; Enzo, a glossy coated black male; Narla, a lightly overweight tan female; Trixie, a sweet and loving one year old; and Jake, a male staffy/Jack Russell who is bright, eager to please and walks nicely on the lead.

Izzie said: “All would make fantastic, loyal and loving family pets in the right homes.

“We urgently need to find good homes for some of these animals, which have been abandoned through no fault of their own.”

According to the RSPCA: “Staffordshire bull terrier puppies have suffered a great deal from overbreeding and bad press in recent years and sadly, many have ended up in our care through irresponsible ownership.

“However, Staffies can make wonderful pets and many of the Staffies in our care are well behaved, affectionate and playful.”

Anyone who thinks they may be able to offer a staff a home can visit here.
