Ever wanted to tell those who spout on about how best to run the NHS to put their money where their mouth is? Then you’ll already be glued to Celebrities On The NHS Frontline, which started last week as a part of the strand marking the NHS’s 70th anniversary. This week sees the concluding part, and as much as the title screams Channel 5 serial dropping an ex Hollyoaks actor in as a porter, edited to laugh at how they can never say the long words properly – this seems to be actually set to see pennies drop across the nation. Or at least it might, fingers crossed.

The cast itself gives hope to its calibre. The ‘celebrities’ all have their own histories with the NHS on an immediate – if possibly out of date – level. They’re not actors too. These recognisable names are medical journalist Michael Mosey, journalist Stacey Dooley, former Shadow Heath Secretary Ann Widdecombe, and Paralympian Jonnie Peacock.

Working alongside hospital teams at King’s College Hospital in A&E, the Heart Attack Centre, Urgent Care, and the Children’s Ward (amongst other locations) will – I’m hoping – see them elbows-deep in the trenches. The NHS is a remarkable organisation, and the more we realise that when it’s NOT an emergency, the better we can safeguard it for when it is an emergency. And perhaps show a little more grace under fire towards the hard working staff who get it in the neck when the public are at their most stressed out.

Wimbledon

On another note of national pride – Wimbledon fortnight has arrived! Sue Barker and her crew (there’s even promise of Boris Becker taking time out from that busy diplomatic career he’s been telling everyone about!) are here! So crack open the Pimm’s, lay out the strawberries, and tuck into the fortnight when the world turns its focus on our erratic weather. And some tennis. Hurrah!
