The Staves

If Bon Iver had been a female band, this is what they would sound like – The Staves. That, with a twinge of Laura Marling and a bit of Fleet Foxes thrown in for good measure.

The trio of sisters, Emily, Jessica and Camilla Staveley-Taylor harmonised beautifully to songs off their EP ‘Mexico’, silencing their watchers. Given that they are sisters, the natural interaction between them spilled easily into addressing us, the awed audience.

The Staves are beautiful, haunting and full of folky Englishness, leaving us proud of our homegrown talent. They are about to embark on their US and Canadian tour, and unsurprisingly they are going on to support Bon Iver.
