We are continuing to work for peace – in Peacehaven

There has been escalated tension in the community since the English flags were put up on telegraph poles all around our district.

The arson attack on our mosque has shocked us all. Two people tried to break down the front door, but it was locked. They then poured liquid at the front door and
near a car which was then set alight. The school for the children has been closed and the women and children are now too frightened to come to the mosque.

The police are investigating who carried out the attack – deemed to be hate crime. There is cc tv footage both from the camera at the mosque and from the venue
across the road.

We are trying to restore calm to our community. We are continuing to work for peace – in Peacehaven for ALL of our community.

We condemn all anti-semitic feeling and islamophobia and all kinds of hate and together we want to build a safe, well connected, welcoming community.
