Hove house for sale for £2.6m

One of the most expensive homes in Hove is being offered for sale.

The five-bedroom house – called Atelier – is in The Droveway and is on the market for £2.6 million.

Its name means studio in French but the description by estate agent Winkworth reveals that the name is something of an understatement.

Winkworth said: “Few properties offer contemporary living, stylised features, generous flowing spaces (and) panoramic views combined with sumptuous surroundings in the way Atelier does.

“This eye-catching leading-edge residence is set in one of Hove’s most desirable residential locations.

“It would be difficult to find a more iconic property set in such a central location.”

The property, next to the grounds of Lancing College Prep School and just off Dyke Road, is less than ten years old.

It was designed by Portslade architect Alan Phillips, whose practice is in South Street, in the Old Village.

He has also designed an indoor swimming pool, roof terrace and solarium which was granted planning permission just over a year ago but which has not yet been built.

The planning consent would permit a new owner to add the swimming pool extension provided work started by October 2013.

The current owner is also an architect, Peter Southgate, of PS Architects.

The property was marketed two years at a price of £3.5 million before planning permission for the pool and roof terrace was granted.
