Hammer & Tongue

This monthly poetry night returned from summer break in style, with a large, lively crowd and fast, hard-hitting and heart-felt poetry. Local poet Doctor Bongo opened the show, sharing her dislike of cash machines! Next the glamorous and talented Catherine Smith took us on a whirlwind tour of images, feelings, dark humour and just a touch of naughtiness. Next came the slam poetry competition – eight poets given three minutes each to win over the crowd with a performance. All good fun. Completing the evening was Simon Mole. A performer of hip-hop as well as poetry, Simon balanced the two with tales of rebelling by conforming, hip-hop performances, and robbery!
