Great Escape: Pinkunoizu

The Danish noiseniks started late and their opening gambit of feedback and experimental noise didn’t help matters, especially with its interminable false endings. Things improved with an uptempo groove led by a throbbing bass and the drummer riding her hi-hat that, with echoey vocals and jangly guitar, turned into a lost Madchester anthem. A crowd-pleasing, if overlong, trancey song, got people throwing shapes and was followed by an all-out ‘bass in your face’ dancer, featuring shouts from the drummer, that proved irresistible. The dancing continued for the final number; a blast of slamming hard house, culminating in a cacophony of guitar effects.
