Great Escape: Skip & Die

With two percussionists and a lead singer decked out in platform trainers and a ra-ra skirt, this band had clearly come to party. South African born Cata Pirata bounced around, rapping over the hard space rave like a wired cheerleader and was dancing amongst the crowd from the first drum break. A mixture of industrial ragga and techno that even featured surf guitar and doorbells, there was no escaping this group’s joie de vivre. Chants of ‘Muti Murder’ rang out over cowbells and sirens and their global influences climaxed with a 60s Bollywood theme complete with sitar and Indian chanting.
