Celebcity with Jo Brooks: Familiar faces make a cameo in Spamalot
Horsing About
If you didn’t manage to catch the fantastic Spamalot before Christmas, make sure you catch it this week. With local faces taking up the part of ‘Sir Not Appearing in the Show’, such as Juice FM’s Guy and Andrea, former Python actress Carol Cleveland, BBC Sussex’s Danny Pike and even BHAFC’s inimitable mascot Gully, the show has been given a New Year’s make-over. Joining the likes of Marcus Brigstocke, Todd Carty and Jodie Prenger, Guy and Andrea are treading the boards in aid of local children’s hospice Chestnut Tree House, so there really is no reason to miss out. “I am full of admiration for the care which Chestnut Tree House offers to children with life limiting illnesses and I am really pleased to be able to help raise funds for this worthwhile cause,” said Andrea. Guy added: “Chestnut Tree House relies almost entirely on the support of the people of Sussex to obtain the £2.5 million which it needs to provide the superb level of care which it offers. We are sure that theatre audiences will give generously.” Spamalot runs at Theatre Royal Brighton until 14 January.
ALLSORTS AWARD
Congratulations to Brighton’s Allsorts founder Jess Wood who will be receiving an MBE in the New Year honours. The youth project, which openend
in 1999, was started in order to reach out to isolated and vulnerable young LGBT people. It now runs drop-in support groups and school workshopswithin our city. It’s great to see one of our own so highly honoured!
