BHAWFC are flying high
Brighton & Hove Albion Women’s Football Club are founder members of the Football Association (FA) Women’s Premier League and remain the highest league placed team in Sussex.
The Women’s first team currently compete in the FA Women’s Premier League (FAWPL) Southern Division which includes; Colchester United, Keynsham, Gillingham, Millwall, Plymouth Argyle, Portsmouth, Queens Park Rangers, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United. The First Team next face Plymouth Argyle away this month in the FAWPL. See their website for full fixtures of the 2011/12 season, including the Reserves and the Centre of?Excellence (COE) teams.
The Reserves earned promotion last season and this year compete in the FAWPL Reserve League Southern Division 1 which includes Arsenal, Bristol Academy, Charlton Athletic, Chelsea, Gillingham, Watford and West Ham United. Underpinning the Women’s senior programme is the club’s Centre of Excellence, which has been talked about in previous issues. The Centre provides training opportunities for female players aged 8-17-years-old.
To support the Albion’s community ethos the club provides playing opportunities for players of all levels of ability, through its community women’s team. The team will this year compete in the South East Counties League Premier Division after back-to-back promotions.
