Blaze closes Brighton launderette
Twenty firefighters tackled a blaze at a launderette near Brighton Station yesterday evening (Wednesday 18 September).
One man was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton after breathing in smoke.
Four fire engines were sent by East Sussex Fire and Rescue service to the Laundry and Ironing Shop in Upper Gloucester Road, Brighton.
The call-out came just after 7.30pm and fire crews spent 90 minutes at the scene whee they put out a fire on the ground floor of a three-storey building on the corner of St Nicholas Road.
Investigators inspected the premises this morning (Thursday 19 September) to try to work out how the fire started.
Part of the premises was boarded up and a note promised customers that the laundry would reopen at 9am on Saturday (21 September).
