Sussex take down Durham by six wickets: Mark Robinson
Sussex beat LV= County champions Durham by six wickets to close out the season. Durham won the toss and decided to bat, but a strong start from the Sussex bowlers meant Durham were always fighting an uphill battle after they were 164 all out.
Sussex compounded their authority with an innings of 328 from 80 overs. Durham didn’t become champions by lying down, and their second innings of 458 from 115.1 overs pushed the match into a fourth day. That left Sussex sweating on what had seemed, at one stage, like winning would be a formality.
Finishing the season at home no doubt spurred Sussex onto to seal the victory and Chris Nash’s 108 runs played a vital part in getting them there. Head coach Mark Robinson was satisfied with finishing third and understands the need to add to the squad over the summer…
