First World War medals stolen in Brighton burglary

Two First World War medals have been stolen in a burglary at a house in Poplar Close, Brighton.

The owners were away on holiday between Friday 22 November and Sunday 1 December when their home was broken into by forcing the back door.

The burglars stole some jewellery, including an unusual looking ring and the two distinctive First World War medals.

They were a British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

Detective Constable Tim Craig said: “All of the items taken are of an extremely sentimental value to the occupants and they are keen to be reunited with them.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who might be able to provide information about when this burglary took place or who saw anything suspicious during that time.”

Anyone with information is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
