Avenue Q

A remarkable production of the much-loved reality-check puppet-heavy comedy musical was delivered up by Brighton Theatre Group. From the off, the strength of everyone’s vocals was just incredible, most impressively from leads Edd Berridge (Princeton) and Sarah Edinburgh (Kate Monster). Using the original puppets and video clips from the West End touring show was a great coup, ensuring the strength of the furry performances, with especial note to Berridge’s nuanced puppet work with his wide-eyed avatar. Warm, cutting, dysfunctional, a great set and brimming with fun (despite a few technical hitches) – I was ready to compromise having seen the original West End show and really didn’t have to.
