College Welcomes Hairdressing Icon
The master class took place in the Kings Restaurant at Sussex Downs College, Eastbourne. Hairdressing students, apprentices and local stylists flocked to see Beverly C, Goldwell Creative Brand Ambassador, transform four models live on stage.
Back-combing and hairspray were in abundance as Beverly talked through her style creations to a rapt audience. Beverly, a two-time winner of the British Hairdresser of the Year award, took the models’ manes from average to inspired.
The evening was a joint venture between Sussex Downs College and Goldwell, returning to the College after a two-year hiatus. Prior to the presentation, Beverly C spoke to hairdressing students at the College about her career history, inspiring a new generation of stylists.
Guests included the team from Fringe Hair Design & Beauty Salon in Little Common. Senior stylist and deputy manager Rebecca Spiers comments: “It was a brilliant evening. My favourite style was the short haircut; it’s the type of style I’d love to recreate. Beverly described how she achieved the cut and colour for the model. I really enjoyed it and I’m inspired to try out the looks.”
Hospitality students provided the catering on the evening and flowers were provided by floristry students. On the night, a raffle was held in aid of local charity St. Wilfrid’s Hospice.
White Ribbon Day at Sussex Downs College
Sussex Police visited Sussex Downs College on Tuesday 25 November to promote the White Ribbon Campaign on White Ribbon Day. The initiative works to put an end to male violence against women.
College staff and students signed a pledge to never excuse, or ignore, domestic violence.
The aim is to get enough signatures to give Eastbourne White Ribbon status and extend the campaign into other towns and cities, including Brighton.
