The War on Drugs

Undeterred by electric shocks received through his mic at the start of the gig, the charming frontman sung their irresistible brand of swampy ambient country anthems with gusto. Beautiful haunting harmonica parts were a nice change of pace between the shoegaze numbers, and bringing a fan up on stage to play guitar added to the sense of warmth and friendliness the band exuded. The pace did sadly drag a little towards the end which does lose the gig one star, but the band’s excellent live reputation is well deserved.
