Fringe@thelittle – Still Lives

The two generation gaps in this tale are dry, gaping wounds that are crippling a pair of unlikely lovers. We all know how it will end and, as this play unfolds backwards, it begins most unpleasantly. I felt very uncomfortable. The question is “How did it get to this?” and the clues are much better recognised in hindsight. Things were happier, optimistic and perhaps could have led to something a bit better. Brief interludes of dance wordlessly express something of the characters’ inner feelings. The start of the story, the end of the play, is just beautiful. Don’t miss it!
